Brazilian Jiu-jitsu Master Class

March 18th, 2012

With Sensei Patrick Martin

Brazilian Jiu jitsu Gosport and Fareham

Well another great Master class at the Gosport Budokan Institute of Jujitsu and Martial Arts,

We hosted a B.J.J. Course with Sensei Patrick Martin, I Have known Patrick for many many years now a great friend and a dam good coach in both traditional martial arts and Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, pat came down with four of his lads all either European Champions or medallist to help out on our master class, his Son Stephen has just won the European Championships, and he and one other are of to the Pan American Champs so Good luck there,

They all gave us a tremendous day covering techniques that they have found work for them in Competition, and taking time out to point out all the finer points which made it all the more interesting,

The course was very well attended seeing that it was mothers day, (sorry everyone we both did not realize it was mothers day till way after we set the date many more wanted to attend and were unable to due to family commitments due to the day SORRY I was well i big trouble LOL)

Patrick covered a lot of ground on the course, and the feed back i got from him after the day was very good he was very impressed by the way everyone picked up the techniques, and also by the focus of all the children both in training and in ground sparring and also with there ability to try and apply the techniques so well done Kids you done us proud again, all in all we had a brilliant day a lot of FUN and learnt a lot also some things we had done in one way or another but it was the little finer points on a technique so we learnt a lot of new stuff in many ways,

we will be having Sensei Pat and his team back again so those that missed this great day will get a chance to train,

I did say was will be a day not to be missed, and Sensei Patrick said we have a lot of Potential in the Budokan

BIG BIG Thanks To Sensei Patrick Martin, Stephen Martin and all the team that came down with them, for a great day.

Well what can i say what a brilliant show, very very professional a great venue, the whole day was just great cant say anything bad about it, a fighters were looked after, the sportsman ship was very good, as was the standard of fighters, all fights were very technical, a great display of skill by most, and the respect shown by all competitors was a real credit to all that took part,

we never got the result we would have liked but hey ho that is the way of the game, but i tell you this they were well fought hard fights,

both our guys went in there to fight and that they did they did there self’s and us real proud took the fight to them, and gave there best and you cant ask more than that, Alan Pebs rocked the guy at the start with a great punch, you could hear across the club, how the guy didn’t go down a i don’t know it was a slammer but all credit him he took it and came back, it was then to ground and a battle that was, one then the other couple times we thought we had, but in the end it went to the Phoenix Fight Matt Raymond well done mate, and what a respectful nice guy he was,

it was then into Johns fight right from the start there was no way it was ever going to go the distance, real high octane fast and furious,

big exchange of fast blows by both from the start and straight to ground  it was all go go go by both fighters, but Young John got caught by a should lock,

this was the first time for both our lads and they both fought two hard fights, and fought with great spirit and heart, well done lads

the show Adam Fieldhouse put on for a first time was top notch i have to say and the way he and all his guys looked after everyone we will not have any hesitation of supporting this event again, in fact we are in September and looking forward to it thanks Adam from both me Our two Fighters and form our spectators that came to support us we all enjoyed your evening

Gosport Budokan Grading

February 26th, 2012

Gosport Martial Arts Centre

Above Our Lil Warriors Class

Well on the 26 February Saw our first Grading of the year, everyone had worked very hard to get ready for this event, we started testing at 10am Sunday morning it was to be a very long day we were not due to finish till 5:30pm, grading was to carried out in three sessions starting with our lil warriors, then Youth classes and then our Adult classes, we had over 150 testing’s to carry out,

First in was the Lil warrior and i have to say myself and the sensei’s were very surprised, we got them warmed up, completed brake falls, then straight into syllabus testing and it was completed in no time at all, techniques were called out and they were done, everyone of them knew just what they had to do and just done it, they were for the age group just amazing, myself and the team that work with the lil warrior are so proud of them they are just a great bunch, they work and try so hard, after syllabus testing it was into the ground fighting part of the grading and always here they give there all, so yet again Lil warriors another great grading day,

it was then on our youth section, again it was the same trend all in warm up brake falls, the syllabus testing was over in know time,

we had two section on ground fighting and kumite and two syllabus testing areas one area testing new members on the intro Syllabus, and another on the main stream, and have to say it was not one of the children needed prompting or help i sat there called out what i wanted to see and they just again done it, could have sat there all day, when it is going right it is just great to watch, they all also fought with great determination the day testing them was a real pleasure,

we have never given out so many grade merit & distinction awards,

last but not least the Adult section of the day, there testing comprised of syllabus test random attacks, knife defence and knife randori knife against knife and knife against open hand and ground fighting & kumite, each grading just seems to get better and better this was just a tremendous day the grading actually finished early everyone got through it all so fast, the standard of the day was just brilliant, i did not think the last grading could be bettered but all you guys done it again, it is just your own efforts that get you all there, and each and every time you guys better your selves thank you each and everyone of you for a fantastic day
